FLEX FLASH NOVEMBER
Hello FLEX Fans!
What has happened, since you last heard from us:
We had our First Conference and it was great!!! Close to 100 people showed up, a lot of information was presented, handed out and knowledge was shared. Thanks again everybody for coming, helping, presenting, sharing, speaking, attending.....a special thanks to all the helpers, vendors and speakers! (We will put a short summary of information on the website later this month).
Looking back... Looking forward...
we took a look at the information we have shared with
you over the last few month and we would like to give you a quick
update on things:
* FLEX Fans ... we have about 50 people signed up to receive the
newsletter
... we hope each one of you can send their newsletter to a friend
* Feedback ... about
1%
... would like to see about 10-20%
* Summer Picnic ... great, lots of
fun and about 70 people attended
... have one every summer with about 50-100
families
* Summer Camp category... were not
able to complete
... we hope for a
volunteer to help us research and
set it up for '08
* Non profit... we found that there
are many in the area, we did not want to add to it
... networking works well right now and we will continue
with it
* Home schooling card... nobody
seemed interested in it
... there are some organizations offering a card with
their membership
* Guest speakers... we presented 11
at the conference (groups, co-ops, etc.),
... we would like to present additional ones at a
vendor fair in
April/May of 2008
* Name list for center... people
have not shown an interest in creating a center, we have heard people talk about it, but nobody has signed up with us or contacted
FLEX
... will try to approach individuals again and see if we can get a
committee together
* Approaching the City... due to
the lack of interest, we have dismissed contacting the city at this point
... once we have a committee, we will try to approach the city
* Fee for childcare... there was no
fee for childcare at the conference
... for future events their will be donation request to
cover
materials and adult supervision
RSVP for children will also be
mandatory!
* Calendar ...changed due to
the amount of events displayed, with it the
format became less appealing
... we are hoping to change the calendar on the
FLEX site to a different
format. We are looking for sponsors to do so.
So if you would like to advertise or know of anyone who would like
to
advertise on FLEX to help sponsor the site, please
contact us!
($50 for a year or $30 for six month)
* Info on the website... all the
information on the site has been researched by FLEX.
...we only had a few people contacting us and sending us
information that they would like for us to post on the site.
Please
feel free to send us things that are going on in you
group,
co-op, etc.
* Help... we have asked in almost every newsletter if anyone would be
interested in helping FLEX.
... we hope that in 2008 there will be some helping hands on the horizon.
It would be great if people could let us know if they would like to
be
approached to help at an event, to help edit the website, to research
new
things, to write the newsletter, to make flyers, etc.
We could take the information down and contact them, when needed.
Inga Galbraith has been a major force behind the Family Learning
EXperience. She wants more than anything to bring families
together to make our homeschooling experience the best it can be.
Inga has sought out classes and other information that she feels
will benefit us all, while homeschooling her own
children.
Well, that is all for now, we don't have any
special events scheduled for November. In December we will have our last FLEX meeting for
2007, which will also be our annual one. So if you
would like to attend, please let
us know. (December 4th, at 10:00 a.m., place
will be announced later).
Have a great day and hope to hear from
you!
Your FLEX
team!
