Boeing Manufacturing Internship
The Boeing Manufacturing Tech Prep Program
Boeing Portland is recruiting teens, ages 16 to 18, who have a penchant for making and/or designing things (manufacturing) for an internship program.
They are a large machining, manufacturing and
assembly facility located in
Portland and currently employ about 1800 people.
The internship consists of 4 to 6 weeks training each summer for 3 consecutive summers. You will progress through all three summers. Interns are paid to learn things such as math, machining, manufacturing, safety, teamwork, planning, designing and communication skills. It includes self-paced, text-based courses in reading engineering drawings, dimensioning, specifications, materials, precision measurement and more. Most of the training, however, is hands-on and they have several instructors for up to 12 interns. There is a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork. Their manufacturing lab is a multi-million dollar, well-equipped facility with hand tools, lathes, mills, drills and computer numerical control (CNC) machines.
